Macular degeneration, particularly age-related macular degeneration (AMD), is a common cause of vision changes in older adults. Our optometrists use imaging technology such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) to help detect changes in the macula that may indicate the early stages of AMD.
We perform several clinical assessments that assist in the detection and monitoring of glaucoma. These may include tonometry (to measure intraocular pressure), visual field testing (to assess peripheral vision), and OCT imaging (to examine the structure of the optic nerve). Our therapeutically endorsed optometrists can prescribe medications for certain eye conditions, including glaucoma, and may work collaboratively with ophthalmologists where appropriate.
Our practice welcomes patients of all ages, including children. Using equipment suitable for paediatric assessments, we check visual function and ocular health in children. We also offer a variety of children’s spectacle frames, if required.
Orthokeratology involves the use of specially designed contact lenses worn overnight to temporarily reshape the cornea and reduce dependence on daytime glasses or contact lenses. This option may be suitable for certain individuals with myopia, based on clinical assessment and discussion with your optometrist.
