Dr Sophie Dao

I’m a co-owner of Northbridge Optical and graduated from UNSW (Hons) with therapeutic endorsements. With over 15 years experience in private practice, I’m passionate about providing personalised care to all my patients with special interest in myopia management. Being short sighted myself  and with a young family of my own, I’m an advocate for myopia control strategies in the hope of limiting the progression of short sightedness in children as early as possible. I truly believe early treatment is key with strategies tailored specific to my patients lifestyle including orthokeratology lenses, atropine eye drops, myopia control specific soft contact lenses and spectacle lenses. In 2018, my work on the impacts of orthokeratology and binocular vision was published!

I’m also a therapeutically endorsed optometrist, which allows me to prescribe certain ocular medications for the treatment of conditions such as glaucoma and most red eye complications.
