Bulk billing eye test

At Northbridge Optical, we believe that quality eye care shouldn’t have to come at a price. This is why your local North Sydney optometrist has decided to bulk-bill eye testing. This means Medicare card holders are eligible to receive a standard eye examination which will be fully covered by Medicare.

Diabetic eye examination

All patients with diabetes are at risk of developing diabetic retinopathy and many are asymptomatic until the condition is advanced. It is recommended that all diabetics should have a diabetic eye examination as early detection and treatment is important.

Age-related Macular degeneration testing

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a chronic and painful ocular disease that affects the macula. The risk of age-related macular degeneration increases with increasing age. Approximately 1.4 million Australians have some signs of macular degeneration. 

Glaucoma testing

The optic nerve is the nerve which carries information received from our retina (the back of our eye) to our brain to create the images we see. Glaucoma is when there is irreversible vision loss due to the damage of the optic nerve. The changes to vision is usually gradual rather than sudden and usually affects the peripheral vision first. Early signs and symptoms of glaucoma can easily be missed by patients which is why we highly recommend having your eyes tested regularly to monitor your risk of developing glaucoma.

Children’s eye testing

At Northbridge Optical, we are happy to see children of all ages. We understand that all children are different and our optometrist is happy to personalise the eye test for each child. We offer different vision testing charts including shapes, numbers and letters.

OCT- Scan

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT-Scan) is a detailed 3D scan of the retina, giving the optometrist a more detailed view of eye health. The OCT Scan assists in the early detection of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy
